Privacy Policy
Plain words, because a privacy policy you cannot read is not a policy. This page describes what this service actually does. Last revised September 2026.
What we collect, and why
- Free visitors: almost nothing. The map runs without an account. We keep no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, and no fingerprinting. The only first-party counts are aggregate ones (page views, ad impressions and clicks as totals), which contain no identities. Your pinned stories and preferences live in your own browser's storage, not on our servers.
- Members: the email address and name you give us, a hash of your password (never the password itself), and, if you choose to add one, your licence number, which we check against the regulator's public register and store with the register's own public fields. Your saved watches, saved views, and account preferences are stored so they work across your devices.
- Professional verification: if you are verified as a lawyer, RISIA, or Québec notary, we store the verification type, the date, and a short note of how it was checked.
- Evidence prints: each print is recorded with your name, licence, email, the register printed, and a timestamp, because the print's verification code must answer for it later.
- Feedback: notes you send through the feedback card are stored with your account email so we can reply.
- An audit log: administrative actions (tier changes, verifications, settings changes) are recorded with who did them and when. The audit log stores no IP addresses.
What we never collect
No payment card numbers (payment happens on PayPal's or your bank's own pages, never ours). No location tracking. No reading of your browsing elsewhere. No sale or rental of any personal information to anyone, ever.
Where data goes
- Email: your address reaches our email delivery provider only at the moment a letter is actually sent to you, and only paid memberships carry letters. A visitor without an account gives us no email at all; a free account's email is stored for signing in and is never shared with the delivery provider, because no letters are sent to it.
- Ask the registers: when you use the question box, your question and the matching register rows are sent to our AI provider to compose the answer. Your name and account are not sent with it.
- Nothing else leaves. There are no third-party scripts on any page.
Cookies
Visitors get no cookies at all, which is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to. The only cookies this service ever sets are the session cookies created when you sign in, which exist solely to keep you signed in and last up to thirty days, or until you sign out, whichever comes first. A few conveniences (your pinned stories, your theme choice) live in your own browser's storage and are never transmitted to us.
Retention and your choices
Account data is kept while your account exists. You may ask us to close your account and remove your personal information; evidence-print records and audit entries that name you are kept as records of actions taken, which is their purpose. Write to the contact address shown on the join page for any request, question, or complaint, and a human will answer.
The register data on the help page
The Find Licensed Help page shows only fields the regulator publishes on its own public register: name, company, licence class, register status, city and province; plus one fact of ours, whether the licensee has claimed their listing here. It never shows phone numbers or emails, and it links every listing back to the register itself for verification.
